Planning committee members at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council refused permission for the development off Shawe Park Road, Kingsley Holt, in line with their officer's recommendation. ‌The committee heard that the proposed bungalows, which would be restricted to the over-55s, would help meet the growing demand for older people's housing the Moorlands. ‌Parish councillor Ken Unwin told the committee that four previous applications for the site had been refused over the last 10 years. While committee members accepted that there is a need for more bungalows in the Moorlands, most agreed that the site would be unsuitable for development.
