The Irish Independent understands that an announcement outlining the proposed direction for a club named Meath FC is imminent, although the FAI has yet to give the idea a formal green light to proceed. It’s a concept that has been floated in recent years, with former FAI CEO Bernard O’Byrne vocal on plans to establish a base in Athboy – with a working title of Royal Meath FC mentioned.
