Planning granted for Patrick's Street tourist officePLANNING permission has been granted for a major new tourist office on Patrick's Street. Fáilte Ireland has been given the go-ahead to convert 125 Patrick Street from retail use to a tourist information office with a new shopfront facing onto Lavitt’s Quay. The tourist body said they hope to have the office open in time for the influx of 100,000 visitors to Cork next summer. Separately a planning application has been lodged with Cork City Council for a 73-bed hotel to be built on MacCurtain Street. McCurtain Street Hoteliers Ltd wants to build the hotel at the site known as ‘The Windsor Inn’, 54-55 MacCurtain Street, on the corner of MacCurtain Street and York Street.
