Plane at Pearson crashes into a pole


Passengers aboard a flight en route to Taiwan were forced to evacuate when the plane leaving Toronto crashed into a pole just before take off. Flight BR35 with EVA Air was in the midst of a routine deicing around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, when the right wing of the plane collided with a nearby pole, resulting in significant damage. Following police investigation, Peel police said pilots were told that they were not oriented correctly on the runway, possibly resulting in the crash. Flights were cancelled, stranding passengers at Pearson for the rest of the morning.
