The idea behind it is disarmingly simple: place a seed in a child’s hand, teach them how to grow food, and allow dignity, confidence and knowledge to grow alongside. The Foundation is expanding further taking into account the urgent need for climate change education and practices. In Puttalam, the model has been successfully adapted, taking root in community gardens, orphanages and family plots alike. Years from now, many of the students tending school gardens today will be adults. Some may still grow food at home.
