Lee fought hard to push world No.44 Panitchaphon early on but fell short in the deciding third game in their first meeting. Earlier, women's doubles pair Hathaithip Mijad and Napapakorn Tungkasatan lost to Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti of Indonesia 21-17, 21-14.
