Pistol robbery, burglaries, pursuits in city


Police in Dunedin were kept busy over the weekend dealing with a sting of burglaries and pursuits across the city. In the most serious incident, a man reported being accosted by an armed assailant in Castle St, in North Dunedin. In Preston Cres, Belleknowes, a homeowner returned to find cash and old coins — but also their Mustang parked in a carport — had been stolen. Police also dealt with a series of cars failing to stop, including a Nissan Fairlady observed ‘‘coming out of Leckhampton Court at speed’’. Police pursued the car from Neville St to Macandrew Rd, where the chase was abandoned ‘‘due to manner of driving’’.
