Following a recent Madras High Court order dismissing a petition against a pipeline project between Narimanam and Tiruchi, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) has put its product pipeline projects in the State on fast track mode. At present, a 116-km long pipeline is under construction from the Cauvery basin to Tiruchi and some 50 km of the pipeline has been laid. The pipeline will pass through four Cauvery delta districts — Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruchi, and Tiruvarur. During an informal interaction, he said across the country, IOC had a pipeline network of 10,000 km which is being augmented to 17,000 km.
