Jasper National Park has been devastated by the mountain pine beetle infestation. Managers have to be extra careful in a national park, said the agency's statement. Carroll points out that Banff National Park's beetle control has been much more successful. An outbreak of mountain pine beetle has destroyed more than 16 million hectares of forest in British Columbia.
