SEN. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Monday said the pilot testing of motorcycle taxis as alternative mode of transportation would continue. The senator gave the assurance after discussing the issue with Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade who supposedly agreed to his suggestion to allow motorcycle taxis to continue operations. The pilot testing of motorcycle taxis was conducted while Congress discussed proposed measures amending Republic Act (RA) 4136 to include motorcycles as an alternative mode of public transportation. Go said he would recommend to President Rodrigo Duterte to extend the pilot program for motorcycle taxis, provided that they would abide by government regulations and ensure the safety of passengers. But minutes before the start of the public hearing, LTFRB board member Antonio Gardiola Jr. said that the TWG had terminated the pilot run.
