Piece from 30m-year-old turtle found in church limestone

It turned out to be what Canterbury Museum believes is a piece of shell from an eochelone turtle, which existed 30 million years ago. The piece of turtle discovered is similar to another one on display at the museum found in a piece of limestone from an unknown Christchurch building in 1880. The turtle piece will be on display once Canterbury Museum’s $195 million redevelopment is completed, he said.
