Thousands of miles away, at the US airbase in Ramstein, Secretary Antony Blinken, after leading a 20-nation Ministerial virtual meeting on the Afghan crisis, announced last week, “The Taliban seek international legitimacy. Placing not-so-doable conditions on the Taliban tantamount to interference in Afghan internal affairs even before the government had started functioning. Incidentally, a lawmaker in the US has recently warned that America could re-enter Afghanistan if the situation got worsened any further. Would it wish to re-enter Afghanistan militarily to repeat the mistake it made exactly twenty-year ago? Or, would it finally accede to the formation of an Emirate in Afghanistan, being run on purely Islamic principles?
