KITCHENER — The Jordan Peterson appearance at Centre In The Square had some people lining up to hear the author, and others gathering to protest his visit, holding signs and telling him he’s not welcome. In the months leading up to the appearance on Wednesday, members of the local transgender community and their allies had expressed concern about the controversial author, psychologist and podcaster visiting the community. Rallies were held, urging Centre In The Square to cancel the show. In a statement on Wednesday, the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region said Peterson and “his toxic perspectives” were not welcome in the community. The support centre said Peterson openly espouses sexist, racist and transphobic ideology.
