Photography exhibition unveils the lives of Auckland's silent nunsADAM JACOBSON/STUFF Photographer Cam McLaren spent six months documenting the Contemplative Nuns of the Discalced Carmelite Order. When an Auckland photographer was offered a rare glimpse into the secretive world of a silent monastery, he didn't expect the nuns to be as chatty as they were. Canadian-born, Cam McLaren spent six months documenting the lives of the contemplative nuns based at Mt Albert's Carmelite Monastery earlier this year. SUPPLIED/CAM MCLAREN The Carmelite Monastery photo series is apart of a wider book project observing religious communities around New Zealand. But as McLaren spent more time at the monastery he struck up a friendship with the nuns.
