Phillip Schofield has declared that his television career is over after his affair with a younger man, which he describes as his “biggest sorriest secret”, culminated in his departure from ITV. After resigning last week, Schofield spoke with BBC News in his first interview since the scandal broke. Schofield, who is 61 years old, met the man in question when he was a 15-year-old boy at drama school. Despite the distressing and emotional nature of the interview, Schofield spoke out because he wanted to protect the younger man from unnecessary attention. During the interview, Schofield addressed rumours that his co-presenter Holly Willoughby was aware of the affair.
