Philippines earthquake: Mass destruction as second tremor in two days hits island

Initial reports said at least 10 people were trapped in a collapsed hotel in Kidapawan, on Mindanao island, following the earthquake. However, the city's mayor later confirmed no-one was inside Eva's Hotel at the time of the tremor, which struck at a depth of 10km, the New York Times reports. Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte, a former mayor of Davao, on Mindanao island, was said to be in Kidapawan when the earthquake struck today.
