The PCG welcomed China Coast Guard (CCG) Vessel 5204 and personnel Monday morning for a week-long port visit. The Chinese side, however, has yet to respond on the Philippines' proposition on the welfare of Filipino fishermen in the West Philippine Sea. In June 2018, GMA News Jun Veneracion reported that Chinese coast guard vessels continue to harass Filipino fishermen in Panatag or Scarborough Shoal in the West Philippine Sea. GMA News obtained a footage showing Chinese coast guard personnel going aboard a Filipino fishing vessel and taking away the catch of fishermen. In March 2019, the camp of former senatorial bet Neri Colmenares released a documentary showing the experiences of Filipino fishermen in Scarborough Shoal.
