MANILA, Philippines — Balanga Chooks-to-Go dropped a pair of stinging defeats in the 2019 FIBA 3x3 Jeddah Masters yesterday but managed to earn the points to keep the Philippines it in the top 24 in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament rankings. The team of Chris de Chavez, Alvin Pasaol, Santi Santillan and Karl Dehesa lost to world No. 2 Riga Ghetto, 11-22, and France’s Lyon, 14-18, to bow out of contention. Balanga will fly back home tomorrow to join the season-ending Melmac Cup, a level-five, FIBA-sanctioned tournament Wednesday in Mandaluyong. The Philippines is aiming to earn enough points to make it to the top 24 allotted for the OQT, which in turn serves as a final gateway to the 2020 Tokyo Games.
