After helping the US win the 4x100-metre freestyle relay on Sunday night, Phelps returned to the athletes village and chowed down. Phelps’ appearance on deck drew the loudest cheers and most excitement among the fans. Katie Ledecky beat Phelps to bed by about 15 minutes after winning the 400 free in world-record time on Sunday. Phelps qualified fifth in the 200 butterfly heats with a time of 1 minute, 55.73 seconds in his first individual event in Rio.
