Pharmac to consider funding tampons and pads following applicationRNZ Pharmac is considering subsidies for feminine hygiene products following an application. Pharmac is investigating whether subsidising tampons and pads are within its funding powers. The Government agency announced on Monday that a funding application for the sanitary items was received in late 2016. In line with other goods and services in New Zealand, sanitary products are taxed at 15 per cent via GST. The application was received from a private citizen, who asked if Pharmac could help with the cost of tampons and pads, Pharmac chief executive Steffan Crausaz said.
