A third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine shot could boost protection against the Delta variant, Pfizer claimed in new information released online Wednesday, as debates about booster shots rise. A full study has not been published and the research hasn’t been peer reviewed, or vetted by other scientists. But the early numbers add fresh fuel to the argument that a third dose of vaccine may eventually be necessary. Pfizer has also raised its estimate of how much money it expects to make off the vaccine this year by about a quarter. Some countries require people to have two shots of the same vaccine, or don’t recognize the AstraZeneca shot made in India.
