Due to safety concerns, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers were excluded from initial Covid-19 vaccine clinical trials, which left them in doubt about whether or not to get the jab. However, a new report has provided the reassurance that the mRNA vaccines by Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech "do not indicate any obvious safety signals with respect to pregnancy". Researchers at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) conducted the study and it was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The team reviewed the data of more than 35 000 pregnant women who received either the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines during or shortly before pregnancy.
