Petrol price hike news on social media bogus, actual prices to be announced tonight

KUALA LUMPUR: The Petrol Dealers Association of Malaysia (PDAM) has shot down rumours on a purported fuel price hike that has been making its rounds on social media. The message went viral hours before the new fuel price was due to be announced for the following month. A new fuel price will be set in place on the first day of each month at 12am. In January, RON95 petrol was priced at RM2.10 per litre, RON97 at RM2.40 and diesel at RM2.05. The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry has set fuel prices on a managed float system since Dec 1, 2014, following the removal of fuel subsidies.
