An evolution is happening in northern Nigeria, and we couldn’t be happier for it. Umar’s appointment was also the first of its kind in north-western Nigeria. On Saturday, October 1, 2016, as Nigeria marked its 56th Independence anniversary, Kogi State was welcoming its first female Chief Press Secretary, Petra Akinti Onyegbule. Onyegbule isn’t just the first female CPS in Kogi but in the entire northern Nigeria. Her appointment also makes her the second ever female CPS in Nigeria and presently the only female CPS in the country.
