Chelsea technical director Cech joined Blues boss Frank Lampard on the trip, which took place before the global coronavirus lockdown. Liverpool were hot favourites to sign Germany international striker Werner and had looked into the possibility of triggering the star's £50million release clause before it's expiration on June 15. (Image: PA)According to The Telegraph, Lampard and Cech held a meeting with Werner while in Germany to lay out their plan for the forward. Lampard brought Cech with him on the trip because the former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper is fluent in German. Werner is set to sign for Chelsea by the end of the week.
