The petition from ‘Save Women’s Sports Australasia’ calls for more consultation on a draft set of principles produced by Sport New Zealand. While the petition itself only calls for wider consultation, the group has argued that trans women should be treated as men for sports with gendered competitions. So we have to follow those rules.”National MP and sport spokesman Mark Mitchell said National wanted to make sure sport “remained free and safe for all participants”. Kerekere said the group was “driving a narrative that if a trans women is in a sport that’s dangerous, that they will cause harm in such way.
