The hearing had been scheduled for Friday, February 20 at the High Court in Glasgow under under Section 75A of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995. Murrell appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in March 2025, where he faced a charge of embezzlement, making no plea. It said: "Commentary, analysis or conclusions about evidence, witnesses or the accused risks prejudicing proceedings and may amount to contempt of court." In January last year, Ms Sturgeon announced she and Murrell had "decided to end" their marriage.
