PNU was the ruling party during Mwai Kibaki's era and have been supporters of the incumbent government, though Munya had his issues- with DP Ruto. Mr Munya had also revealed that he was going to file a petition to challenge the win of Governor Kiraitu Murungi. President Uhuru Kenyatta has also confirmed that he has met with PNU Leader Peter Munya and other officials. He has also said that Peter Munya and his party will be supporting him during the repeat election.
