Mr Horrocks, 58, a former BBC executive who has been vice-chancellor for three years, has stepped down with immediate effect. Mary Kellett, professor of childhood and youth at the OU, who holds several executive positions, has been appointed acting vice-chancellor. In a message to staff she struck a conciliatory tone, saying that there would now be a “pause” to reflect on the overhaul programme.
