I knew French Lick, Indiana, produced one of the greatest basketball players of all time in Larry Bird. Larry Bird’s former home was my first stop during my recent visit to French Lick. But the place to be is the French Lick Resort, which sits just across Indiana Avenue from Larry Bird Boulevard. A terrific 1-2 combo of the visually-stunning Pete Dye Course at French Lick and the historically strategic Donald Ross Course make French Lick is one of the best golf getaways in the Midwest, particularly for a weekend escape. I’d seen some images of the Pete Dye Course on social media before making the trip.
