Police in West Yorkshire warned motorists not to travel unless absolutely necessary after responding to numerous collisions by 7am, including on the M62 motorway. More than 4 inches of snow fell in parts of Wales overnight – slightly more than last week when Storm Emma and the beast from the east brought much of Britain to a temporary standstill.
