Ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), a major development has come to light regarding player retention. According to sources, Peshawar Zalmi has decided to retain its captain Babar Azam while opening batsman Saim Ayub is likely to be released. Sources say that both Babar Azam and Saim Ayub are in Peshawar Zalmi’s platinum category, however, as per PSL rules, each franchise can retain only one player in a category. That is why Peshawar Zalmi has decided to release Saim Ayub in preference to captain Babar Azam.
