Police received the alert from the British Transport Police after 12:30pm today (December, 15) at Newcastle Central Station. As well as police, three ambulance crews, two crews from a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), a clinical team leader, a specialist paramedic, and support from the Great North Air Ambulance were also at the scene. The patient has now been taken to the RVI in Newcastle. A NEAS spokesperson said:“We received a call at 12.29pm this afternoon (Friday 15 December) to reports of an incident at Central Station’s Metro station in Newcastle. One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) by road for further treatment.”A Northumbria Police spokesperson adds: “Just after 12.30pm today (Friday), we received a report from officers with British Transport Police that a person had been struck by a Metro train at Newcastle Central Station.
