Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) were alerted to the blaze, on South Rd, Ōaonui, about 10.40pm, New Plymouth senior station officer Jason Crowe said. Crowe said one occupant of the house received minor burns. “They had working smoke alarms which woke one of the occupants,” Crowe said.
