Police said one person had serious injuries after their car struck a power pole on Maire St . One person has been seriously injured after a car struck a power pole in the Lower Hutt suburb of Eastbourne. A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the crash on Maire​ St at 10.40am on Thursday. A spokesperson for Wellington Free Ambulance said one person was taken to Wellington Hospital, via helicopter, in a serious condition. Fire and Emergency New Zealand were also at the scenen to assist police and ambulance.
