A person is believed to have died after an assault on Hydro Rd. A man is dead after an assault in the Bay of Plenty town of Edgecumbe. The man suffered critical injuries during an incident on Hydro Rd around 8.20am on Wednesday. A person has been taken into custody and police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident. New Zealand's homicide rate of 1.6 per 100,000 people is well below the OECD average of 3.6 per 100,000.
