Mosimane's departure cast doubt on Tau's future with Al Ahly with the immensely talented attacker having been one of the accomplished coach's key players at the club. Mosimane had also pushed for the 10-time African champions to sign Tau from Brighton where he had fallen out of favour and Jingles is the one coach who was able to get the best out of 2017-18 PSL Footballer of the Season. Prior to joining Al Ahly, the Bafana Bafana vice-captain was linked with a return to Belgium where he played some of his best football. Royal Antwerp were reported to be keen to sign Tau, who had enjoyed successful loan stints at Union SG, Club Brugge and Anderlecht, but he ended up moving to Egypt. During his time in Belgium, Tau won the Proximus League Player of the Season award while playing for Union and he then helped Club Brugge win the Pro League title.
