Perak Mufti: Federal govt upholds Islam


The RM76 billion disbursed to 819 religious schools last year, apart from the rise in salary and allowance for more than 15,000 imam and mosque officers, proved that BN honoured its pledges in its 2013 election manifesto, which was to promote Islam, religious freedom and harmony. Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria said the Federal Government had introduced many initiatives to uphold Islam as the official religion of Malaysia, while ensuring other religions were practised in peace and harmony. Pix by Abdullah Yusof“The government had implemented initiatives, including providing financial assistance for Islamic religious schools.”He said the Federal Government’s efforts in upholding Islam as the country’s official religion should be praised. “The Federal Government’s initiatives to increase the allowance of religious groups and provide free pilgrimage should be lauded,” he said. The people, Mahmood said, should be proud and recognise the Federal Government’s efforts to set up a beautiful Islamic administration in Putrajaya.
