It is the first time City have won the FA Cup since 2011, and their first under Guardiola's reign. Mercer started with a league title win in '68, before adding the FA Cup in '69 and League Cup in 1970. But it was the win over Cardiff on penalties in the 2011-12 League Cup final which finally earned him the accolade. The Blues beat Liverpool after extra-time in the final, whilst they stormed to a title win, amassing 95 points in the process. Before that though he had overseen a period of real success at Highbury, including a dramatic league title win in 1989.
