Education Minis­­ter Dr Maszlee Malik speaks about equitable education for all and says the government is assisting the B40 lower income households. However, his ministry’s decision to continue implementing a race-based quota for education beats the whole purpose. The ministry has said before that some of the allocations given to non-bumiputra students were due to unfulfilled bumiputra spots. The Finance Ministry’s Economic Outlook 2019, which examined the unemployment rate in Malaysia, reports that bumiputras with tertiary education recorded a high unemployment rate.
