From 1 February 2022, Austria will be introducing compulsory vaccines for all, with exemption for those unable to receive a jab on medical grounds. The decision comes after a low uptake of the vaccine and the rise of Covid-19 cases in Austria. Germany is set to tighten rules for the unvaccinated as cases rise, while the Greens are pushing for a vaccine mandate for individuals who work in care homes or hospitals. A growing number of leaders in federal and state politics are now in favour of a vaccine mandate for the general population.
