The stories in the media point out how we have lost our humanity. We have no regard for the welfare of others, and often we are downright cruel or mean. I have been struggling with serious back issues for the past two months and I’m now relegated to walking with a cane. When I tried to pay for parking at a parking garage kiosk, as I left, the man behind me said, “Excuse me, ma’am. You forgot to take your ticket.”These small acts of kindness remind me that our community hasn’t lost its humanity after all.
