People affected by weekend's floods in Cork entitled to Government support

Cork residents affected by flooding during the period of severe weather at the weekend have been told they can apply to a Government scheme for financial support. Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys said on Monday the humanitarian assistance scheme would be available for those living in properties directly affected by flooding. A major clean-up got under way on Sunday after a status orange rain warning caused severe flooding in parts of Cork on Saturday. “The Humanitarian Assistance Scheme is open and support is available for those whose homes are affected by the flooding. “If any homeowner affected by severe weather needs to access these supports, they can contact the Community Welfare Service by phoning 0818 60 70 80.”
