Pensioner Vinod Bajaj walked round Earth — and never left Limerick


While most over-70s have been pottering around the house during Covid-19, Vinod Bajaj, a retired business consultant from Castletroy, Co Limerick, has been walking up to 50km a day around his neighbourhood. Last Sunday Bajaj completed what is believed to be a new world record by walking 40,075km — the equivalent of the circumference of the Earth — in under 1,500 days. Bajaj has submitted evidence of his feat to the Guinness World Records, which is reviewing his attempt. He downloaded the Pacer activity tracker on his smartphone to monitor his progress and gave The Sunday Times access to the app to prove his claims. Beginning on August 18, 2016, Bajaj walked 54,633,135 steps in 8,322 hours, burning 1,497,232 calories on his way to completing
