SYDNEY, Australia — The National Rugby League has a new competition leader for the first time this season after the Penrith Panthers outclassed St. George Illawarra 28-2, dropping the Dragons into second place. Panthers coach Anthony Griffin said it was their best game of the season. Cronulla moved into fourth place on Sunday with a 48-10 win over Newcastle, the Sydney team’s sixth win in a row. In the other Sunday match, Wests Tigers moved into eighth place with a 14-10 win over Canterbury. The Brisbane Broncos helped coach Wayne Bennett celebrate his 800th NRL game with an 18-10 win over Parramatta.
