PITTSBURGH — Derick Brassard’s power-play goal at 2:38 of the third period snapped a 3-3 tie and the Penguins went on to beat the Canadiens 5-3 at PPG Paints Arena Wednesday night. Price managed to stop that attempt, but the puck went in off Malkin’s leg as he slid into the crease. The Canadiens pulled into a 2-2 tie when Charles Hudon sprang Nikita Scherbak for a short-handed breakaway goal at 8:19 of the second period. Trading goals: There were two great examples of hand-eye coordination as the teams traded goals late in the second period. Brendan Gallagher was awarded a penalty shot at 3:46 of the second period, but Casey De Smith made the save.
