The Penguins trailed by two goals after two largely lifeless periods before catching fire late. Tomas Hertl and Patrick Marleau scored for the Sharks, who controlled the first 40 minutes and appeared on their way to a one-sided victory before falling apart late. The Ducks had just one point from four games and had failed to score more than two goals in any of those games. Marcus Johansson, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Justin Williams scored goals for the Capitals. Colorado's Matt Duchene had two goals and an assist in the Avalanche's 4-0 win against Tampa Bay.
