GEORGE TOWN: As of next year, all entertainment outlets except for those in shopping malls, supermarkets and hotels in Penang will not be allowed to operate "simulator" machines as they have been found to incorporate illegal gambling. "Only shopping malls, supermarkets and hotels will be allowed to renew or apply for licences from next year onwards. "The freeze involves all types of simulator machines except toy claw machines or prize-giving machines," he said at a press conference held at Komtar on Tuesday (Dec 19). Chow said that only hotels with a minimum of three stars would be allowed to operate simulator machines. "Hotels with two stars and below and motels that operate out of shophouses will not be allowed to have simulator machines.
