Penang remains optimistic despite no allocation for PTMP

GEORGE TOWN: Penang was hoping to hear some good news on its multi-billion ringgit Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) during the 2020 Budget announcement yesterday but none was mentioned. For his 2020 Budget wishlist, he had mentioned the need for a RM10 billion allocation for the transportation project. The PTMP, announced in 2015, comprises a light rail transit (LRT) system, an undersea tunnel and three paired highways. Yesterday, the Federal government announced the allocation of RM100 million to install the cable car project at Penang Hill with the remainder of the cost to be borne by the state government. The cable car project could be an added value to Penang Hill," he added.
