Pema Khandu set to be new Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Nabam Tuki resigns


NEW DELHI: Pema Khandu is set to replace Nabam Tuki as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh . Khandu was chosen as the new leader of the Congress Legislature Party, following which Tuki resigned from the post. Roy had denied Tuki's request for 10 more days for the floor test.Pema Khandu, 37, is the son of former Arunachal Pradesh CM Dorjee Khandu, who died in a helicopter crash in 2011. Khandu is now expected to prove his majority in the Assembly around 1 pm.Tuki has been battling for his post since December 2015, after he faced a rebellion within his own party. He served in Tuki's cabinet as minister.A number of the 21 Congress MLAs who had rebelled against Tuki are on board with throwing theit lot in with Khandu, giving him the support of 44 MLAs in the 60-member Assembly, including rebel leader Kaliko Pul.
